A Canadian pastor imprisoned in North Korea under a life sentence of hard labour has finally been released and he landed back in Canada on Saturday morning. When Pastor Hyeon Soo Lim saw his family again for the first time, he ran to his wife, kissed and hugged her, then by-passed his son and went straight to hug his one-year-old granddaughter! Rejoicing along with his church and his family, Cheryl Weber (Senior Executive Producer, 100 Huntley Street) and Lorna Dueck (CEO, Crossroads Global Media Group) will be covering the story on a special program of 100 Huntley Street Monday, August 14 at 9:30 a.m. on Global and YES TV.
"We are beyond overjoyed to see the day we dreamed of and prayed for arrive. As soon as we heard of his imprisonment, we wanted to do whatever we could to help bring Reverend Lim home. That included mobilizing Canadians coast to coast to pray for his release, to ask them to sign the petition to see him brought home and to write their MP to urge the government to keep fighting for his freedom. Our viewers responded with faithfulness and passion and we are so grateful for all they did in this fight." - CHERYL WEBER
100 Huntley Street sent cameras to the press conference on Saturday and to the church celebration on Sunday where Cheryl Weber and Lorna Dueck were present for Rev. Lim's first public appearance.
"It is God that kept Pastor Lim company during his time in prison," said son James Lim at the press conference. "As a family we can't even begin to share our gratitude towards the Canadian public. To those in Canada, as well as all around the world, that have prayed for us, supported us, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We are proud to be Canadians."
It is a happy chapter in a story that 100 Huntley Street has been telling, pleading the plight of Rev. Lim with the help of Lisa Pak, a family spokesperson, since he first went missing two and a half years ago.
