Danny Van grew up in a Christian home, went to Christian schools but never knew Jesus personally - he says it was, "no one's fault but my own."
He first got into drugs in 8th grade.
When Danny got out of high school, all he wanted to do was play music. So he started a band and got into the LA club life. More substance abuse followed.
In 1986, Danny was 26 years old and done. Staying home alone, rather than going to the party and sharing his drugs, he hit rock bottom.
He literally looked up and spoke a nickel prayer, "If You are real, I need You."
He looked for a bible and the only one he had was his graduation bible. He remembered reading the book of Acts and seeing the stories come alive.
This was no longer just "maybe stuff" or things he learned in Sunday School. This was real, this really happened.
"I knew all about God, kind of like we know all about some celebrities but we don't know them personally and hang out with them." The revelation that God wanted to know him personally was mind blowing.
That's what changed his life.
