170 children are enrolled in the school that Alongside International Program had recently built. However, many of the children live so far away from the school that they can't go home on a regular basis. Therefore, sleeping on the floor seemed like that next viable option for them.
This is exactly what the focus is for the mission trip in April - building dorms for these children to sleep in.
There was a horrible massacre of people during the war in this area. 300 people were killed in the matter of 3 hours. This left many children orphaned, which is why we have targeted this area to bring some relief and help these children.
David Miclash, Director of Alongside International Program, is looking for people to join them in their upcoming trip in April. David has been doing tremendous work in this community, shinning the love of Jesus to all that they come across. Dignity is restored and hope is renewed.
While it will be good to have professionals (doctors or engineers ) joining them, all David is looking for is a servant's heart, the willingness to serve God's children.
"...for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me." - Matt 25:35-36
