A Young Man and His Faith Journey/ MATT ROMER

Matt Romer is Associate producer and Junior Editor for Crossroads Christian Communications.

Matt was raised Catholic, he found himself going through the motions and not having a relationship with God at all.  There were certain components in his upbringing that had a ramifications in his adolescents, one being his relationship with his father. His mother and father divorced when he one year old. When Matt was around ten years old, his father hung up on the phone on him saying, "Have a nice life." For a young boy this rejection was devastating.

That moment has shaped him and defined who he was. Matt was back on speaking terms with his father for about ten years. When Matt was overseas teaching in South Korea when his father hung up on him for the second time. Little did he know that was going to be the last time he spoke to him.

Two months prior to his father passing, Matt found a relationship with God. He attended a conference in Muskoka called Band of Brothers, where he met men who introduced him to the Lord and to His Word. Matt's life has been forever changed.

"Hearing the news that my father passed was difficult, but knowing that my Heavenly Father was going to be there for me, and would never leave, and had an abundant amount of love to give me just warmed my heart. I honestly can say today I wouldn't be here at Crossroads if it wasn't for God. He just took me in his arms and said it is okay, and I needed to hear that" says Matt.

Dear God, sometimes my "testing" season seems so long. Please give me courage to endure until the end. Help me not to bail! You said you would bless me for hanging in there - I will not give up on you or your promises. You are with me and will see me through this trial.
