Actress Tasha Smith Pursues her God-Given Dream

As a little girl, Tasha Smith had always dreamt of being an actor. She grew up in a rough neighborhood and even though all the odds were piled up against her, she kept the dream alive in her heart.

Looking back in hindsight, Tasha realized that it wasn't just a figment of her imagination. It was God giving her a glimpse of her future when she was just a little girl. Even when she did not really know God or understand clearly what faith was, she had always seen it in her heart.

Transition from New Jersey to Los Angeles

At the age of 16, Tasha met actress Tisha Campbell-Martin at a party and invited Tisha to her house for dinner. Much to her astonishment, Tisha actually said yes.

That was the start of their friendship despite a little hiccup with a mouse at the dinner.

Tasha knew that God had strategically placed Tisha in her life. By the time she turned 18, she went to California all by herself. Tisha and her mom helped Tasha with the whole transition and was such a blessing to her.

Even so, life was rough in Los Angeles. Tasha did drugs, stripped, slept in her car and got washed up at the beach just to name a few. This went on for 7 years. However, going back to Camden was not an option for her. She felt like she would die if she head back to Camden. There was no Plan B.

God's Grace and God's Plan

For those years, Tasha became part of the statistics of people "not making it big". "We shouldn't judge a thing before its time," Tasha passionately proclaims. "Sometimes, we look at people, we look at where they are right then and there, and we think or we judge ‘Look at them, they are going to end up messed up.' "

Tasha is a great testimony and witness of God's grace and mercy. All things are possible through Christ. Now, Tasha is living the dream she had as a young girl and it is beyond a simple blessing - it is truly, a dream come true.
