Relynn Reimer has been in the modeling world for over four years and has worked alongside young women who have adopted this negative body image our culture feeds us. Hopelessness sets in because they feel they will never amount to anything unless they obtain physical perfection. Negative body image became something Raelynn struggled with as well when she felt that because she could not obtain the cultures expectations of "perfect beauty" that she could not amount to anything, especially within the industry she worked in. Soon, this lie began to seep into other aspects of Raelynn's life including her confidence and work. It began to ruin relationships, her own health, and she began to question life all together. Going through this struggle, Raelynn reached out to God for the renewal of her mind to redefine how she saw life."God has given us deep desires that he has every plan on fulfilling if we simply take our eyes off ourselves and readjust them on him."
Psalm 147:10-11 says "He takes no pleasure in the strength of a horse or in human might. No, the Lor'ds delight is in those who fear him, those who put their hope in his unfailing love"
God has made us for a reason, and this is proof that he does not take pleasure in what you look like or what you can do with your body but delights in those who put their hope in him.
Psalm 138:8 David writes "The Lord will work out his plan for my life - for your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever. Don't abandon me, for you made me."
It doesn't say he will wait until we are perfect for God to work out his purpose but instead that he will fulfill his purpose. God's purpose for you is bigger and greater and more amazing than anything you could have hoped or even dreamed for. When we are so focused on our own image, our eyes are on ourselves and those we compare ourselves to, instead of God. When we take our eyes off the lies and deceit we are instructed with everyday, and direct them towards the Truth that God has placed in front of us, we will find ultimate freedom.
Freedom in loving who God has made us to be, and freedom in every other area of our lives because God will be the one leading, and not the enemy.
Continue to renew your mind so you can rest in the location that God has for you.
Romans 12:2 says "Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transorm you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect."
