I
love the imagery of light in the Bible.
It's one of the first things that God created, and its power is shown
all through scripture. Jesus came as the light of the world, and His light
shines through us. This is a powerful truth to teach to children. A few months
back I noticed a lot of buzz online about a new children's book called, God Made Light by Matthew Paul Turner.
I was so excited when I got my hands on a copy and I read each page with
anticipation. I was not disappointed! The beautiful illustrations and words
captivated me, so perfectly sharing how light is part of our everyday world in
so many ways but that light can mean so much more when we know Jesus.
My
favorite page in the book says this:
So beam like the sun;
glimmer like a star
And wherever you go,
Dark will stop being
dark.
Shimmer and Shine; be a
beacon so bright-
‘Cause when God made
you, child, God made light.
So
beautifully said, and the last page has a surprise that I love! (and so will
your children!)
I
was excited to see that the book had some products that go along with it. I
love the large "God Made Light" floor puzzle, beautifully designed including a
scripture from Genesis 1:3. A cute, "God Made Light" moon nightlight that
children will love to turn on before bed to give them some light of their own.
Finally, the "God Made Light" encouragement notes which are beautiful quotes,
pictures and sayings from the book that you can put into your children's
lunches, backpacks, scrapbooks - so many creative uses!
Pick
up this book and these products today; your whole family will love being
reminded of the light that shines through us all.
