Raised in a Christian home, Charlene had the opportunity to travel with her parents on a tour to Israel led by David & Norma Jean Mainse at the age of 11. She was baptized by David Mainse in the Jordan River while she was there.
However, Charlene fell away from God when she went to University and entered into a clubbing lifestyle. In the beginning she just went along with her friends, telling herself that it is alright to have some fun. "So long as I don't drink and don't leave the clubs with strangers, it is should be fine," she thought to herself.
Charlene started pushing the line. First it was a drink, then it was two and things just keep slipping and the line kept moving. She went to every pub night and will be found in the clubs in the weekends. It was an addiction to her because she felt that she has to be there, to be a part of it.
Yet, this all brought her to a place of emptiness and misery.
Charlene was about to give up her faith. Even though she missed God and missed talking to Him, the devil kept putting lies into her mind that she was too far gone, that God does not want to have anything to do with her. But God never gave up on her.
Giving faith one last chance, Charlene attended a Campus for Christ meeting. God really encountered her there. He reminded her of the love she had for Him and how much He still loves her. There and then, she broke down into tears and rededicated her life to Christ. He released her from the enemy's hold and breaking the addiction to the lifestyle she was living.
Today, Charlene is serious and strong about her faith & serving Christ. As both her parents are Cancer survivors, she has a strong desire to 'be part of the solution' for those battling the disease. The Lord clearly lead her towards the career path of Radiation Therapy and now she is shining God's light and hope to all the patients who are battling cancer.
