Key Verse, Matthew 1:23: "Behold a virgin shall be with child and bear a Son and they shall call His Name "Immanuel" translated, "God with us." (quoting the prophet Isaiah from 739 B.C.)
When all is well, it's easy to believe "God's with us". When there's trouble, we must believe with child-like faith. Whether you feel it or not, IT'S A FACT! God is consistent. He is IMMANUEL! Here are some promises to remember:
In addition to some thoughts on the day's Bible reading passage, Dad has a section of his blog called "100 Personal Words," where he shares a story from his life experience. He would love to have you join him on this journey, as God continues to give him strength.
On our prayer lines recently, God certainly proved Himself to be "Immanuel" to a hurting man named Jim, who was planning to take his own life. After spending time with his 10-year-old son (knowing it would be his last visit), Jim drove up to his cottage, where he had everything set up to end it all. That's when he found a past edition of our Crossroads Compass magazine. He did not know how the magazine ended up in his cottage, as he was not a Crossroads supporter. Jim read the magazine from cover to cover and knew he needed to call the telephone number he saw there. He called and got through to one of our prayer partners who told him that God loved him and would help him. Jim prayed a prayer right there to receive Jesus as his Saviour. We also called Jim back later that day to see how he was doing, and it was obvious that God "Immanuel" was with him, bringing "comfort and joy." Jim will enjoy Christmas with his son this year, because of that close encounter with THE SON... Jesus!
Thank you for your partnership with us in making an eternal difference in the lives of many people, like Jim.
