Fay Wapenisk / FIRST PEOPLES VOICES

Fay Wapenisk is of Metis ancestry from Alberta. For the past 18 years she has been married to Ivan Wapenisk. As the wife of a man who was sexually abused as a child, Fay has experienced challenges in her marriage.  Fay's healing journey through her own sexual abuse triggered flashbacks for her husband. It was only through the Lord and His people that they made it through. Fay and Ivan had good counsellors and good friends that were there to support them 24/7. Fay then began to realize that she had hope to share with people, especially women. As she saw more and more women take their own lives Fay wondered if it would have made a difference if she had shared her story with them; slowly Fay began to do just that.

Fay started a Women's Bible study at the Weagamow Evangelical Fellowship. Fay feels that she is a vessel for God's spirit to flow through. In the past, she felt she had nothing to offer, but today the Lord is working through her!

Dear God, sometimes my "testing" season seems so long. Please give me courage to endure until the end. Help me not to bail! You said you would bless me for hanging in there - I will not give up on you or your promises. You are with me and will see me through this trial.
