It's so hard to believe that it is the end of 2012! Wow! I am so thankful that God has been by my side this past year. I am thankful for all the blessings in my life - for my family and friends, for my church - that we have food on our table. So many things to praise him for! I could go on and on!
I love the start of the New Year. It's like a new chapter in a book. I always wonder, this time next year... what will I look back on? What will have happened? It's really exciting! It's also faith building, because we never know what is going to come across our paths. We have to trust God, no matter what the year brings our way.
I am sure we could all share stories of this past year.I know that some stories would bring us to tears, and are full of sadness. Others stories have us excited and full of awe. I am so thankful that God walks with us in every situation. He knows the year ahead, and he'll be with us, no matter what!
Every year in our family we each "Name our Year." We pray and decide on one word that we want our year to represent, and we ask God to do that in our lives and we keep that in our minds. I still don't have my word yet... but I feel like it's stirring in me! I believe that God wants us to move forward each year, to push ourselves to the next thing he has for our lives. I don't want to be the same for the rest of my life. I don't want to live as 2012 Shelly. I want to press on!
II'll close with Isaiah 43: 16-21. I love these verses:
This is what the LORD says "he who made a way through the sea, a path through the mighty waters, who drew out the chariots and horses, the army and reinforcements together, and they lay there, never to rise again, extinguished, snuffed out like a wick: "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. The wild animals honor me, the jackals and the owls, because I provide water in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland, to give drink to my people, my chosen, the people I formed for myself that they may proclaim my praise.
He's doing a new thing; let it spring up in you! Happy New Year! May Jesus be glorified in all we do in 2013
