If I can help people get a grip on the basics of God's Word in such a way that it becomes more than the greatest sounding, religious theory they've ever heard - I know I've done my job."
"How Much Do You Have to Hate Someone"
If you believe in Jesus, and you believe he is the only way to eternal life, how much do you have to hate someone to not share with them what you believe to be the truth?
In Matthew 4:19 Jesus said "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men". Sometimes when it comes to evangelism and sharing our faith, we can get really nervous and feel ineffective. I think Jesus was trying to get us to understand this was supposed to be fun! God wants us to have a new perspective, a new attitude that fishing is fun! As you are engaging with people around you, have that attitude. Fishermen are passionate. They will sit there for hours just for one little nibble. We need to be that patient and passionate about sharing our faith with those who don't know. Who is in your world who doesn't know the Lord? We are to give every last person the good news of the gospel. The Fish will tell you exactly what to put on the hook. Jesus said in Luke 6:45 "out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks". People will always tell you what is in their heart with their words, intentionally or unintentionally.
The seed is in the need.
When you are to plant an apple-tree, where do you search for the seed? In another apple. With people, listen to their need, you will know exactly what seed to sew to meet the need. You don't have to have the scripture memorized, or the perfect speech. You just need to listen, love, and share your faith.
Fishing is fun!
