Is it possible to be an emotionally healthy woman? Geri Scazzero says that we are always in progress and the key is that we are aware of that and always seeking to be spiritually and emotionally healthy. You can't be spiritually healthy if you are not emotionally healthy.
There are steps we can take to be emotionally healthy and one thing we need to do is quit. Quit some hard things - but often that can be difficult. The word quit has a bad connotations in our culture. We need to choose to stop doing certain things and choose to do something differently.
One thing we need to do is quit pretending everything is fine when it's not.
Quit being afraid of what others think.
Often we are doing way more than we should be or need to be doing. We need to ask ourselves why we cannot say no, why we feel we need to help everyone that asks us. The fundamental problem behind over-functioning is actually fear. We are lacking a lot of trust in God. Perfectionism is another problem and we need to look at why we are that way. Self-worth should be based on the fact that we are loved by Him and we have nothing else to prove.
We need to live a life of truth. We don't realize we are lying. Sometimes we were raised this way. Honesty begins with yourself. Speak in love to yourself and to others.
We need to get in touch with the things we are doing so we can live a completely healthy life.
