Today, get ready for a Scripture so rich and so filled with the purpose and promise of God for your life.
"Now to Him Who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that works within us!"
Look at this phrase that Paul writes!
Far more abundantly beyond all!
What an exciting possibility!
In this phrase, "far more abundantly beyond all" - Paul was unable to think of a word that he could use describe what God could do in us and through us - So he made up his own new word! The word he made up is huperekperissou - it's a Greek word that is 15 letters long! It means - superabundantly, beyond measure, exceedingly, and far more than.
Paul was a brilliant scholar and writer didn't use this brand new word hyperekperissou one time but three times in rapid fire succession. Then, just for good measure, he adds the word "Huper" one more time!
And do you want to know what the delight of this verse is? Paul is not exaggerating one little bit! All you have ever prayed for, all you've ever longed for, all you've ever asked for or dreamed about is possible because you serve a God Who is great enough to pull it off! God is capable of accomplishing far more than you could ever ask for or ever imagine! You can never out-dream God! I dare you!! Try it - try to out-dream God.
The Cistine Chapel started out as a dream in the heart of a man. Disney World started out as a dream. Flying in a man-made contraption started out as a dream. The cure for polio started out as a dream. The end to slavery started out as a dream. Women getting the right to vote started out as a dream.
Your biggest, most gargantuan dreams are smaller than God's tiniest dreams for your life.
Paul's God is your God and Paul is writing this riveting, enthusiastic and thrilling prayer from a Roman prison cell! This was the man who sang at the midnight hour and an earthquake broke out!
"Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that works within us."
The same power that worked within Paul works within you and whenever God gives to someone His fullness - He gives it not just to fill us up but He gives it so we can experience His power. God has called you to something so big that you need His Power to get the job done. Your dream is not the "impossible dream" because you serve a God to Whom nothing is impossible!
It's time for some of you to dream again! Stretch your thoughts, increase your delight in Him, enlarge your desires, and multiply your prayers and petitions to the utmost. You honor God when you dream big dreams! You honor God when your prayers are humanly unrealistic!
God never thinks that a child of His is being presumptive in prayer. The truth is most of us are guilty of asking for far too little!
Whatever we ask, or even think to ask, God is able to do more, exceedingly, abundantly more, because you and I have been joined to Someone Who is more powerful than you or I have ever begun to imagine!
The word power is the Greek word dunamis - the same power that raised Jesus from the dead. The power is working in us. It wants to show itself off inside of you.
It's time for you to dream again, because the Power of God is working in you and wants to show off in you.
Verse 21 - "To Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen."
The power comes from Him and the glory must go to Him!
The reason for Paul's outburst of praise is a result of his concentrated thoughts about the glorious things that God can do, wants to do, and will do through you!
God we thank you for the power that's working within us, Father we've heard your voice today saying that it's time to dream again. Father we pray that you stir up the gift of God in those listening today. Father we pray for people to be praying big prayers, and that we set our focus on You to whom NOTHING is impossible! In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
