Jesus Has Paid the Price

We are coming up to a very important time of the year in terms of the Biblical calendar.

We are coming to a season called the High Holy days. Three of the most sacred festivals that God lists in the Bible. God lists 7 feasts and festivals in which He says he wants to set them up as commemorations. He wants us to look back on them and see what He has done for the Nation.

Starting October 2-4 Rosh Hashanah is coming. Which means head of the year or the new year.

It's not just the Jewish New year, it's the Biblical New Year. On that day they take the shofar and they blow it.

The next feast is the Day of Atonement. On October 11th and 12th.

Finally the Feast of Tabernacles, October 16th to the 23rd. That's a time for rejoicing, where God commands that for 6 days you are to have nothing but joy. A great time of harvest and remembering what God has done.

We look at these festivals to commemorate what God has done.

In Ephesians 5:27 Apostle says (talking about the church)

" present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless."

The Lord is coming back for a bride and you ask her to be without spot or wrinkle, what does that mean?

In Israel they found ancient clothing, and an ancient wedding dress.

The way the dresses were made were very, very unique.

They would take a piece on the dress and they would fold it in on itself and it would create a pocket. From a distance it looked like there was a wrinkle in the outfit.

That matters because, when the bride would come down the aisle, as you walked by, you would put money into the wrinkle, and that would help pay for the wedding.

So Jesus said he was coming back to the church that wouldn't have any spot or a wrinkle.

He meant that nobody would have to pay the price for the bride. He has already paid the price.

Dear God, sometimes my "testing" season seems so long. Please give me courage to endure until the end. Help me not to bail! You said you would bless me for hanging in there - I will not give up on you or your promises. You are with me and will see me through this trial.
