Life Happens / LIFE HAPPENS

Today's encouragement comes from Joshua Chapter 1 verse 9 "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." It is the foundation to our life Happens series.

If you have ever experienced the loss of a loved one, abandonment of a spouse, the pain of separation, the loss of your job, the sting of divorce, the conflict of remarriage, the news of sickness, the struggle in aging, or the burden of family, then, life has happened to you. It has crept up and surprised you and left you feeling all alone.

Joshua in the bible knew well how fear and discouragement could paralyze you and overwhelm you to the point of wanting to give up.

It is interesting that God does not suggest or imply but he commands us …

1.      To be strong

2.      To be courageous

3.      To not be afraid

4.      To not be discouraged

So, here's God's promise, to us, today, that we will not be alone that he will go before us. We can--- have strength over discouragement and courage over fear, because we can know, God will be with us.

Hope carries us to the next minute, the next hour, the next day, week and year. Hope for us is knowing that we are not alone. God is with us and goes before us. Today know that when life happens--- strength and courage--- can conquer fear and discouragement. If you are with us now, then the good news is that you have already experienced the worst day of your life. Congratulations-- There is hope!

Dear God, sometimes my "testing" season seems so long. Please give me courage to endure until the end. Help me not to bail! You said you would bless me for hanging in there - I will not give up on you or your promises. You are with me and will see me through this trial.
