I Can't, I Don't, I Never Bake

Moira Brown had some colourful kitchen adventures early in her marriage and the "memorabilia" from them too - melted cookie sheets, burnt pots etc.

That is until her friend Deb called and said, "Moira, I think the reason you don't bake is that you haven't baked. I'm going to come over. I'll bring everything we need, and we'll do Christmas baking."

At the end of the day Moira was loading containers with chocolate covered coconut balls, butter tart squares, shortbread cookies and more. Everything looked and tasted great!  Every Christmas since, she produced the expected favourites, and now "approach love and cooking with reckless abandon."

Deb had faith to believe Moira wasn't a hopeless case in the culinary department. Deb's domestic intervention transformed her Christmas and tore down a stronghold of "I can't! I don't! I never bake!"

More importantly, the time they spent together deepened their mutual trust and friendship. They took time to get to know each other, and it provided a foundation for walking together through future life chapters.

God delivers His best gifts through people. A day of baking was one of His Hugs from Heaven!

Hugs from Heaven by Moira Brown is our May monthly offer for any amount of donation. For more information, please visit our Crossroads website.

Dear God, sometimes my "testing" season seems so long. Please give me courage to endure until the end. Help me not to bail! You said you would bless me for hanging in there - I will not give up on you or your promises. You are with me and will see me through this trial.
