There has been a growing support for a theory called the Replacement theory, in light of what is going on in the Middle East. There are many evangelical Christians that believe the Church is the new Israel. This means that the Church has replaced the promises to Israel in the Old Testament, some even believe that the promises given by the Old Testament prophets will never be fulfilled in Israel.
As Dr. Ed Hindson states, it is one thing to say about the important role that the church has in god's plan, and it is another thing to say that God is finished with the Jewish people.
In Romans 9, 10, 11, Apostle Paul stresses that God still has a concern for the people of Israel. He went back to Jerusalem, begging them to put their faith in Jesus. He was convinced that God still have a plan and a purpose for the Jewish people that will be fulfilled before the return of Christ.
