It is important to have the right view of God. He is not angry all the time.
When author and speaker Joyce Meyer first started teaching publicly, she was really praying hard and asking God to show her what He wants to share at the ladies' meeting in a small church. She felt in her heart that He said, "Tell my people that I love them."
Joyce argued back because she did not want to go into the meeting with a "John 3:16 Sunday school" message. She wanted something with more impact and power!
"People don't know how much I love them, because if they did, they will act a lot different than what they do now."
That was what the Holy Spirit impressed in Joyce's heart.
"There is no fear in love. But perfect love casts out fear…" - 1 John 4:18
When we know that God loves us, we will not have to worry about the future, we do not need to worry about the past or the mistakes that we have made. If God is for us, who can be against us?
As Joyce began teaching other people about how God loves them, she realized that she did not have a revelation on it either. It was very important to her future, before God brought her any further in her life, that He lay a foundation in her life of truly knowing that God loves her.
She studied on God's love for at least a year. She would say it out loud that, "God loves me". She became deeply rooted in the love of God.
We need to know that God loves us when things are good.
We need to know that God loves us when things are bad.
We need to know that God loves us when injustice happens, when we don't understand it all.
God had already proven His love for us when He sent His only Son, Jesus, to die in our place. He did that even when we were all sinners!
People often think that God is angry at them.
I didn't pray enough, so God is probably mad at me
I made a mistake, so God is probably mad at me.
I didn't go to church last week, so God is probably mad.
While He can get angry at times, He is not an angry God.
He is a God of forgiveness and mercy.
When you start to learn that He is a merciful God, that He loves you and that He forgives you, you will start to see Him through the right lens and filter.
