Mama Rwanda is a follow up to Laura's first film "As We Forgive." She began filming in 2011 and looking at the economic recovery in Rwanda. In particular, the role of women in that economic recovery. Today Rwanda has the highest percentage of women in parliament in the world and women are continuing to make incredible strides there. The film looks at two different women. One who lives in a poor rural community and one who lives in the city. Both are struggling with motherhood as single mothers of their five children and are trying to build a business in their community. The film looks at the society of work-life balance for a woman in east Africa trying to accomplish all of this on their own.
