Marie Monville, wife to the man involved in the Amish schoolhouse shooting, broke the seven years silence and found the courage to publish her story in her book "One Light Still Shines". Her entire life was changed in an instant for her without any warning signs. Instead of the horror, it was the forgiveness, grace and compassion expressed by the Amish community that overwhelmed her and her family.
Growing up in a lovely rural community, Marie's life was turned upside down when her husband shot 10 girls in the Amish schoolhouse before killing himself. Fighting against the label of being the "Shooter's Wife", she dropped to her knees and pray. That was when she realised, she was not alone. She didn't have to be strong enough to handle it, because it was the strength of the Lord.
She realised that it was not about her. It was about who God is - how He releases His Grace in the moment we need it the most. And He is more than capable of turning everything for the good of those who love Him according to His purposes as Romans 8:28 says.
"Therefore, behold, I will allure her, will bring her into the wilderness, and speak comfort to her. I will give her the Valley of Achor as a door of hope..." - Hosea 2:14-15
