"Extravagant Graces: 23 Inspiring Stories of Facing Impossible Odds" tells the incredible story of how an airplane survived a terrorist bomb attempt.
Jeanette Chaffee was on that airplane and sat less than 14 feet away from that explosion.
April 2, 1986 she was flying
from Rome to Athens and she was asleep and she thought a gun had shot her in
the head. She thought she was dead but then she realized she could feel the
plane falling from the sky.
When she opened her eyes through the thick cloud of smoke she looked up and there was no ceiling.
Her oxygen mask had not dropped. She looked down and saw peaks of mountains down below. She knew she was going to die.
She waited and they didn't die so she decided she needed to get air. Found an oxygen mask that was unused and put that on.
She called out to Jesus to save their lives.
5 people were gone that had been sitting in the row of the bomb. There was a large hole in the side of the plane.
There were only allegations to who blew up the plane.
If the bomb had gone off any earlier or later or exploded any differently they would have all died. It was the only time that a bomb had been put on a commercial plane and survived.
Jeanette says she felt the presence of Jesus with her.
She shares many inspiring stories in her book. She wants to show how God has been there in these stories.
